Is there a way to keep messages in a chat "unread" when going out of it?

To explain, say you have a chat with 100 unread msgs, but you only have time to read oldest 5 , the problem with Whatsapp is the minute you open the chat, then exit it, it will mark the whole chat as read.

On telegram, it holds your place in the chat.

#AFAF - They created for a Google Voice number, and then people started contacting them trying to reach the person that used to own that number. Annoying, but such is life. They then used the number to create a whatsapp account, but it seems the OG number owners are *still* using the number for whatsapp. Every so ofen they get a message from someone replying privately to a group message from the OG owners. There are no linked devices listed. How is this even possible? They have now enabled two step ID, I'm hoping that will put an end to this.

I think there are some statuses that promote themselves by giving a link that somehow allows you to see their status.

What type of link is that and how do you generate such a link?

I tried googling but everything is about how to add a link to a status.

  Put “http://wa.me/7 digit WhatsApp number” into status which brings you to that contact. There’s ways to prepare a premade msg to send once you arrive at that contact but idk how works.
Point it, that contact has to add you to their phone book (and you save theirs) in order to view status

Message that company or person and ask how they did it..I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

thanks that seems like a step in the right direction. Apparently a url parameter of "text" will prefill the message

Then both people have to add as a contact

Idk if it’s a WhatsApp issue or an iPhone issue
iPhone has the vibrate/ring toggle on the side of the phone. I always leave it on vibrate I don’t like ringtones
When checking WhatsApp status you would see the video silent until you click the volume control once and then the sound goes on.
No longer.
Now it doesn’t register that you want sound until you actually turn the toggle to ring setting.
This happened to me in the past and it seemed to fix itself with some software update idk if it was whatsapp or iPhone. But now it happened again and idk what’s going on
