Supported devices
WhatsApp is stopping support for all Symbian, Nokia S40, BlackBerry phones. Phones running older versions of Windows, Android and iOS operating systems will also not be supported.

Android users still on Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 are no longer be able to use WhatsApp.

Windows phone users will have to upgrade beyond Windows Phone 7.1 to continue enjoying services. iOS 6 are not be supported, which  affects those Apple users who are holding back from updating the OS.

UPDATE: You won't be able to use WhatsApp on the following platforms for:

Nokia Symbian S60 after June 30, 2017
BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 after December 31, 2017
Windows Phone 8.0 and older after December 31, 2017
Nokia S40 after December 31, 2018
Android versions 2.3.7 and older after February 1, 2020

I beg to differ. It always backs up. Sometimes the restore doesn't use the latest backup though. That has happened to me even though I manually backed up right before.

Im using a Galaxy S4 and recently when listening to voicenotes in whatsapp, it doesn't play on speaker - the screen dims and only plays through the regular phone.
Any ideas how to get it back?

I'm on s4... Latest beta version.
For me:
It plays loudly on speaker.
When I lift phone to my ear it then dims and  changes to the reg speaker

I don't see any such whatsapp settings
Maybe there's something wrong with your proximity sensor?  Does your phone dim automatically when placing a call?

Version numbers are very random so it seems like a server side update + it's live on beta version.

I'm not sure what version of WhatsApp you are on, but for the past 3 versions at least, you cannot change that setting.
