I'm looking for a good quality portable external hard drive that can store up to/ over 1 TB for under $150. I've heard that wd drives are not such good quality and have a warranty only for 1 year, and that brands like seagate are good quality with a longer warranty. I'm not sure which sites are the best deals, and so far i looked on newegg, amazon, and buy.com. Also I would like to have a good extended warranty for at least 3 years. Would anyone recommend I get a extended warranty from squaretrade or similar type (besides for the one with AMEX) ?

Here's a good brand for a good price ($20 off (expires today, 5/19/11) with coupon code EMCYTZT471) at $79 I don't think it's worth shelling out extra for additional coverage. Amex should extend the warranty on this for another year, effectively giving you three years of coverage.

If $79 is too much, you can sometime find these kinds of drives for even cheaper. It was recently available at staples for like $55 (but you had to go buy a $25 off coupon on eBay for $1/2, so a bit of a hassle).

look it up on amazon.

you can get the 1TB seagate one with 3.0usb capability for $99.00

alternately the hp 1tb goes for between $99.00 and $119.00 (depending on the day)

i recently bought 2 of the hp ones. (one for $99.00 and one for $119.00)

they are extremely compact and light.

(Isn't size and capacity the same?) 1 TB max 2 but no more than 1 needed.
Portable.
USB 2.0

I can wait till Black Fri. or Cyber Mon. for a better deal.
