The nice little tap probably made it even worse....  Does it make any noises when connected?

So far I've only heard some noise for a min right after I unplug it.

Ok so when I connect it to my computer my computer recognizes it's connected. And on the bottom right I have the eject hardware device button but it's not showing up under my computer.

Where do I go from here?

Regarding tody's main site deal on Seagate HD;
A) do they have the stability benefit of Seagate drives mentioned here     http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=7521.msg66114 ?
B) are the 2gb or 1gb drives good value?

Paging DH?

Whats the problem with it? Do you want to fix or recover data? Hard drive usually don't get fixed, if they have an issue you retrieve the data and get a new drive. Data is more valuable than drives

I don't recommend seagate desktop drives. They're making really inferior drives right now. Hitachi is the company I would go with

My bad. I didn't ask that correctly. I want the data recovered. I know it's expensive. Looking for the best priced place to get it done.
It fell. Won't connect now. Took it to my local computer guy and he said I need to have it sent out.

Good to know.
I've had great experience so far with these drives as well:

Answered my own question:

This one is $70 after checking out with Paypal using the code 'PAYPAL30" (30 off 100.)

How is this better than a passport ?
Mainly, because i've seen wayyyy too many dead wd passport drives.  I have 3 1tb seagate's that are all great.
Although, to be totally honest.  I just tried using my new 2tb drive (the one i linked to above), and im having big connectivity issues.  Drive disconnects for a short second or two every couple of minutes.  Searching reviews online it seems like a few others also had the issue.  But most haven't complained about it.  So maybe get neither :)

I don't know, I was just speaking from experience.  I'm sure DH will have more to say; he definitely deals with this more then I do.
