If I sent myself $ using another account with amazon payments can I refund it back and still meet the amex spending requirement? or its better for me just to deposit the $ in my bank acct? i figured refunding it would be less risky...

He'll need to set up an account to accept the payment and transfer it to his bank account and/or send it somewhere.

Large amount? Questionable payee (e.g. relative)?

I don't remember seeing that on AP, but it might be usual, or it could be that you paid a relative...

I've done 2 payments for $500 each and both times received that message and both times it was processed without issues a day later. I wasn't as careful as I should have been with regards to IP addressees, names etc. That's probably what it was.

let me guess...

first payment to or fro the particular account, right? and the transaction shows "pending"?

if so, it processes within a day and there's no problem with it.  and the month the transaction will cont against is when you initiated it, so if you did this on the 31st and it didn't process until the 1st, your june is still wide open.

fyi: the key to AP is to take it slow and build up the account(s)...

Square iPhone app. you can 'upload' Gift Cards for a flat 3% fee. (shame it doesn't work for coins)
