Author Topic: BA Card - Got $2,500 in AMEX GC - How can I get rid of them? (Read 19088 times)

I'm sure these have all been discussed in other threads, but I'd specifically like to address the "challenge" of $2,500 in GC and not $1,000

I fulfilled my BA Spend req of $2,500 by getting AMEX GC.

NOW - how can I get rid of them QUICKLY?
a) I dont want to "spend" $2,500 (as you know MANY kosher spots dont take AMEX

)
b) I dont want to just paypal myself the money and losr $70+ in fees
c) I dont want to ebay it
d) I dont want to Craigslist it
e) US Mint has $1k limit (I think) and if that's not true - all the $1 coins are "backordered" as of this morning

Any ideas?

First, I would make sure that the $ you have on your card is still there- and amex didn't cancel the card and take back the funds.
2nd) why not sell it for a bit less- see what happens.

Mint stopped accepting AMEX GC for payment awhile back (unless something changed recently).

Dan had the best idea - Amazon payments. I have cashed out quite a few AMEX GCs that way with no problems and no fees.

NOW - what exactly am I doing here to get the $$$ from my GCs? Am I "Send Money" and then doing a "Cash Advance"? Who is the recipient going to be.

Can somenoe please provide a brief summary of A-Z how to get $2,500 in AMEX GC to Cash via Amazon Payments (using, presumably, multiple accounts to sidestep the $1k monthly limit)

You can only fund your AP account with a bank transfer, no CC option for that.

what you need to do is u can send someone 1k a month of a cc so u get a friend with amazon payments to let u send him 1k then he cashes it out and gives it back to you. its like paypal without the fees and a limit of 1k

asher question for u my wife legally still has her maiden name. you think i can set her up an amazon payments account with a diff address and send money from me to her and cash out from a bank account that is only attached to her account?

It'll work if they don't check IP addresses. I'm not sure how vigilant they are (compared to paypal for example)

I believe it's been mentioned on the forums that you need to go online and submit address info before you can use the gcs online
