EL AL has stopped selling first class on one of their frequencies to London Heathrow as of September 10, 2017, and on their flight to Newark as of October 15, 2017, which is probably a good indication of the timeline with which we should expect these new routes to get the plane.

If they only get one aircraft, then I'm not sure how they will go about every second flight to EWR. The flights to EWR depart TLV at 12:30am and don't return until 7:10am the following day.

They are receiving one 787 every quarter.

Had the same question. Truth of the matter is that probably no one in ELAL has thought about it yet....   Im not kidding. It is very possible..

They start with one dreamliner and one 777, and as they get more of them over time they will get rid of the legacy planes?

just got an email from elal
from September until oct 29 it will fly to Europe
from oct 29 to EWR
from mar 18 to HKG

and now its on sale to EWR
$1750 in premium economy which is very decent pricing

it also seams like they didnt raise the price of business class award tix on the flights with the 787. It may make for a good redemption option if there is nice availibility

Do you think there will be any special fanfare / perks for the very first September London flight?  Or will they reserve that for the real inauguration?

So it looks like the first flight to LHR will be Sep 12 and will fly daily on the 10:15am and return on the 3:25pm, and on occasion on the 5:15 outbound (e.g. Oct 1)
Starting to EWR on Sun Oct 29. Starting Oct 30 the flight will depart TLV 1:10am instead of 12:30am (arrival only 5 minutes later than the old schedule. Does the 789 fly that much quicker than the 772?) Thursday EWR - TLV will be moved from 2:15pm to 7:15pm (that leaves UA 84 as the only normal nonstop for Thursday in the winter). Hopefully they'll change that quickly.

Interesting to note, that the TLV - LHR route is marketing as a 789 straight through Mar 22 but PE on that route is still not being sold as a separate cabin

If you check the April 2018 calendar, they introduce a second dreamliner route to EWR, leaving Israel at 13:50, and returning from EWR at 21:00

So how many 787 will they be putting on the EWR route when they have the 2 daily flights?
If its just 2 then even the smallest delay will throw them off schedule on the EWR-TLV 21:00 flight

And the 787 flies faster.... LY 27 went from 1230A/700A to 110A/705A. Had that when LOT was forced to change from a 787 back to the 767 (when the 787s were grounded) and we had to revalited many tickets as they had to leave a half hour earlier

Business - 2000

Actually it will be going up to 2250 for "ticketing" after Oct. 29 (JFK too). Until then, you can still purchase at the old rate.
Upgrades will also be going up for ticketing on/after Oct 29:
Until Oct 28 - 700 or  225 + $200
Starting Oct 29 - 900 or 300 + $300
