I was in the bakery in Israel where Lakewood makes the oat matzoh, they have a guy that comes to test the air to make sure there's no gluten. Oat is also the first batch of the year so you don't have other flour in the main bakery room yet.
Oat dough is extremely delicate and there is a lot of waste even with machine matzoh. I'm sure that's part of the reason it's so pricey.

I wonder if Yemenite style oat Matza would be any better/cheaper. I would guess an Ashkenazi that has a medical reason would get a heter to use such.

not sure why. there is ashkenazic oat matzah, its just terrible tasting

Maybe Yemenite would taste better, or at least be easier to chew and swallow. After all, it's only in the last couple of hundred years that Ashkenazim started making the current cracker style matzos that we currently eat.

THAT is your source? The minhag to have thin matzo comes from the RIV"A and the Kol Bo quoting drashos HaRaAVa"D based upon a rashi

My uncle makes oat matzah in Israel.  Most yrs it comes out very bitter as oats naturally are. This year they did something that makes it taste fine. Pm me if you want me to find out where it is sold in the US

yeah, not all oats are Gluten free. If it is then I would be interested in trying it. Can't be worse than the alternatives

That implies other people shouldn't eat it on pesach. Why?  Are they doing something we don't usually do with matzah?

It's not simple that oats really are one of the חמשת מיני דגן but it is the only choice for some unfortunately.

That would just mean is not matzah. Wouldn't mean other people shouldn't eat it
