Some comments at OMAAT saying this will apply to all flights on all carriers from the Middle East to the US.

According to a reliable US source, this will happen on all Middle East airlines flights that do NOT go through a US pre-clearance facility. It will be announced tomorrow – looks like Royal Jordanian announced before they were supposed to. Not a joke.

Yeah, I posted it like this because at first it was just comments saying it would affect others, but now several blogs have posted a tweet from a Saudia exec as a source:

Makes sense. Wondering why they waited until now. Should have done it right after the Egypt plane crash. I have a feeling "lost" baggage becoming a lot more common as the baggage handlers take their share...

Any word on which countries?
Have a flight from TLV-VIE-NYC, in a few hours.

"Buy" your kids a prepaid cell phone.
Costs a few buck, and definitely worth it on a long flight.

So people flying RJ to Israel for pesach (I know a few) won't be able to take a laptop or iPad on the flight? That's crazy

So I would imagine this is a way for American intelligence to access any information they want from people of interest.

You guys really think that they are doing it just to make you uncomfortable? It's not like they can profile.
