Is this only from these countries to the USA, or from the USA as well?

Doesn't seem to be ex-USA.

If this is his 'ban', it's a pretty pathetic attempt.

The electronic ban is only to the USA not X USA and only applies to the countries on the list below:Royal Jordanian, EgyptAir, Turkish Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Royal Air Moroc, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Etihad Airways. So if you have friends providing back on turkish for pesach they will not be able to bring Electronics on the plane on the way back.

BBC is reporting that UK accounced similar ban which notably impacts BA flights as well, but seems to be fewer countries:

yes, and for those that were still deciding this is a major issue to consider, especially with kids. How do you entertain them for a 15 hour trip without any of these devices. Sad, because 20 years ago this question would have been silly but today is a legitimate question.

I heard at first that it was in either direction. Any confirmation that it is only entering the US?

Meh. I have a flight in August on RJ, I'm not particularly worried. Worst case I scrounge around for some extra cellphones for them to use.

@Fakeunitedjeff: One way you know the Electronics Ban is BS is that Delta's flight to risky Lagos is getting totally ignored. Dick laughs from retirement.
