I tried the scanners today, was very happy, just 2 complaints.
1) I bought stuff in the nut factory, & in the quantity on the scanner it listed 1, even though I only had 0.21, could be by the register it will come up as 0.21, but I deleted it from the scanner, & had it ringed up manually by the register.
2) looks like the scanner tells the cashier to double check specific items, so the cashier had to take out stuff from the bottom of my box, & it just made a message of all the contents
Was just in the store yesterday, had the same question when scanning my nuts and candy, I bought four five different items from the nuts and Candy section and when scanning with the app it gave only the base price per pound.
I kept in mind all the prices of those items and after having all my items rang up at the register,(meaning after I gave my membership card and all my items came up on the register screen) I saw that it came off or rather came up exactly what the item said on the bag not what the scanner said per pound.
Yes that turns off people they should definitely have a better system in place for that not that it's per pound.
To answer your second question, no they do not have to dig to the bottom of the box, but as answered above they want to make sure you didn't hide items you don't want to pay for on the bottom hence the reason for her rummaging to the bottom of the box.
It's really like any store you go to Walmart for example, or better example you go to Wegmans and they trust you to put in the amount of candy or nuts in the bags and weigh it, not that you added more after you weighed it , meaning after you printed the price label already.
Or in Walmart when scanning your items out or home Depot or Lowe's, they are trusting you that you're scanning each item and not taking advantage and stealing.
Yes if you want to steal and buy 15 of each item and only pay for 10 of them they're not going to catch you on that most probably, even in Bingo they can scan your products from today till tomorrow if you took 15 of them they could scan it and see that it's on the receipt they don't know that you took 15 they assume you took only 10 as your receipt or the scanner shows only 10.
The whole system is based on trust.
Yes that's one convenient thing people pack it as they shop and then when you come to the register they unpack your box LOL.
