Good points made. When I bought my Tesla the rep basically just handed me the car and walked away without explaining. I asked for some help and he shruggingly answered a few questions without giving a run down of the car. I was definitely overwhelmed, I pulled out onto the highway instantly realizing my mirrors were unadjusted, finding a shoulder, trying to find my hazards, searching for controls to change mirrors on the screen, etc. It’s good Elon is forcing reps to give an FSD test drive before handing over the car, not for his reason but just to get comfortable and adjusted to safely drive away.

Back to the article - I wonder if the charging aspect was actually a bug or simply him not knowing how the Tesla optimizes charging along a trip, which also has to be learned. From the fact he mentions topping off during a long trip, I’m assuming the latter.

Indeed, I would assume most people would be fine having FSD just for longer trips.
