When to close an account?

I have some cards that still do not have annual fees on them or they extended the no fee for another year.
I would keep them open except that I want to open the same card again to try for the bonus miles again.
ex. the aa cards I have are one year old. If I cancel today and apply for a new one will I get the new bonus miles.
I have old AMEX gold too(Around 6 months old) I want to apply again.
Will I hurt my credit report by closing such new cards and opening more?

If I had AA cards a year ago, can I close them now and apply for new ones.
What about amex gold and premier? how soon can I close and reapply for new ones.
I don't want to hurt my credit by closing too soon.

I asked the question in different words and did not get a response, so I tried asking it a different way.
Someone else about reapplying for cards(rejection/approval etc).
My main point is should I close these accounts that are not too old or will that hurt my credit report.
