I set up a $2000 rent payment, was scheduled to pull from my cc today, instead i got an email basically saying i exceeded my monthly limit and therefor canceled the payment, they also said hat it looks like im using the divvy for a cash advance. I imagine because the check is to my address and made out to my wife.
No  this was my first transaction
I just received a similar email
Hi elikay,

Unfortunately your "xxxxxxx" divvy will put you over our currently monthly usage limit.  We are working on removing these limits and will be soon.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Best,

- The PayDivvy Team

I already did one this month for under 2500, and so was this one... It might be ending.... Oh well, at least I took care of one spend requirement...

I successfully set up another $2,000 Divvy with a new account. Payment was to same address, but to a business name, YMMV.

Relative's social.  Why would that matter? I think they are just recording the socials to comply with the (ironically named) Patriot Act, they aren't checking or anything.

Their user agreement has been updated... 3.5% fee in effect and it says it can be applied retroactively!

:(

What does retroactive mean . I dont think they could charge for a transaction that was done before they started charging.

They could but it could probably be disputed.

Here is what their terms now say about payment...

Quote
8.1 Fees Overview. Some fees are expressed as a percentage of the payment amount. All fees are in U.S. Dollars unless otherwise stated. Any time a payment is made to a third party, the payment is made from your PayDivvy Balance. If you do not have an available PayDivvy Balance, PayDivvy will initiate a charge to your Default Payment Method to Load your PayDivvy Balance and then immediately transfer the funds from your PayDivvy Balance to the third party. If you use your credit card as the Payment Method, your credit card company may charge you a cash-advance fee.

Payment using a PayDivvy Balance: Free
Payment using a Bank Account: Free
Payment using a Debit or Credit Card: 3.5% of Transaction Value (fees may be applied retroactively)

But are they actually charging it? If they apply it retroactively I'd just raise h3ll until they drop it, they have no way of enforcing it really.

I have screen prints of the agreement when i initiated my first (and now, only) transaction.  Good luck retroactively trying to charge me.

they have a few things going against them ottomh...
1> the user agreement states they can change it whenever and continued use represent agreement with the new terms but courts have consistently rules one-sided agreements like this are a fail.  The user agreement has no version tracking/changelog so there's no way to easily tell if it's been updated and there's no notification mechanism for an update to the user agreement.
2> The homepage says "100% free" and there's no asterisk in the "pay with a bank account or card" box.
3> You simply can't change a contract's terms and apply those changes retroactively.

Owell, at least I got one payment in...

I had a pending payment for my electric bill when they changed it and I emailed them to find out if that transaction would be charged a fee given that when I initiated it there was no fee. They said yes, so I canceled the payment.

Paydivvy is no longer fee free!!!!!!! Just got this email:

Hi Jimbob,

We are happy to announce that bank account payments are right around corner! Paying your bills is still free and easy when you make payments to your friends and bill providers using our standard payment option (i.e., with your bank account).

At the same time, we will be introducing fees on our instant payment options. There will be a fee of 3.5% for all instant payments, which includes all debit and credit card transactions (Note: Standard payments may take a few days to clear through your bank, whereas instant payments will be processed immediately).

You may choose your payment method each time you accept a divvy and you can change your preferred payment method at any time. If you want to continue to enjoy free payments, we recommend you get your bank account added and verified now.

Thanks for using PayDivvy, and please contact us if you have any questions.
