When coming to the US from overseas, you must go through customs at the first US airport that you enter, whether or not you will be leaving the airport or taking a connection.

but then you do not go through customs again in the USA. However you fly, you have one time going through customs on either end, that's all.

If this is right after your wedding, are you going to have tons of luggage with you?

Yes we will probably have tons of luggage. Just booked Toronto-Tel Aviv segment, now looking for LA-toronto flights....guess we gotta go through customs twice?

Yes. And with some airlines you have to change the baggage as well since it has to go thru customs too.

It's best to know which El Al flights (and dates) are available when calling. If you tell the AA agent what flight you want instead of having them search for availability, it'll go much quicker and you won't have to call a million times.
AA doesnt get the same availability of seats as what ELAL has. telling AA the flight wont help.

JFK makes everyone recheck their luggage. (it was my final stop on my last trip, but boy were other people complaining)

IME the availability is exactly the same.  Note that AA can't book El Al First Class.

i wanted to book 3 business seats using AA points on El AL.  AA told me that they can only book two seats...Matmid site shows at least 3 available.  Anyone know if the third seat will automatically open up after i book the first two? (assuming that Dan is correct that AA and Matmid availability should be the same.

thanks,
Aaron

Really not a big deal to find out.
Put the two on hold and you'll have the answer...

Once theres a hold they go out of award inventory.
If they release more is up to the airline...
