I know there's an Indian restaurant people rave about there.

not much in the way of good restaurants...
Natalies: fleishig pretty good food great falafel...a little expensive for pretty small portions
milk and honey: small israeli joint...falafel, burgers etc.
carmel: fleishig new haven't been there but heard good reviews.
there's also a pizza shop cafe fino only the pizza is cholov yisrael
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I was just in Dallas with my wife. Thanks to this forum, I had a great list of things to do. A few notes:

For the uninitiated, there are two main frum communities: Far North Dallas (referred to as the "north eruv") and North Dallas ("south eruv"). Confusing. I'll use the eruv names, since it's easier, even though it's weird.

South Eruv has the larger community. it's a mix of more yeshivish and modern. North eruv is somewhere in the middle (and seemed to be a more cohesive community).

Eats: we stayed in the north eruv, so we ate there, mostly.

Benny's Bagels (make sure you go to the kosher one) is a great bagel shop. Good baked goods, too - they just hired a new baker.

Natalie's is a decent Israeli fleishig place. They skimped on stupid things like pita bread. There's an Israeli market attached to the restaurant.

Cafe Fino is the only pizza store. I wouldn't recommend the pizza- it didn't taste like anything - but the other food, fries etc are pretty good.

Zinga's - really good frozen yogurt. Don't think it's cholov yisroel.

Aderet Kosher (south eruv) - pretty good israeli place, similar to Natalie's but I found it a little classier. Example: The waiter brought my soup out late, almost at the same time as the main. He apologized for the poor timing and gave me the soup on the house. If you go there you MUST get the coconut curry chicken.

Tom Thumb (chain of supermarkets there) has one store in each eruv with an extensive kosher selection. I'm talking about a deli counter with takeout, sushi, frozen meat, chicken, a huge kosher bakery...very impressive. Also - they are so nice and welcoming! It's nice to be out of town.

Attractions: We went to the Forth Worth Stockyards (about an hr away from either eruv) and had a grand 'ol Texan time. We saw a cattle drive, a mock gunfight, lots of cowboy-types. Billy Bob's at the stockyards is the world's largest honky-tonk - country bar. The place is massive! It costs a couple of bucks to go in, but it was worth it. They have real live bull riding in Billy Bob's Friday and Saturday night. Go in the wintertime when Shabbos ends early so u can make it to the 10pm show. I wish I could have done that. Maybe next time!

Very nice report!
Adaret Kosher has good food.
Their shnitzeloniums (or whatever) are good appetizers for a good price.
The ribeye and lamm chops was tasty as well.

Thanks!

I guess I have more food to try next time I go. Ribeye and lamb may be out of my price range, though  ;)
