Not this

How many Amex points is this - is it worth it...direct value (if someone for some reason does not plan to save up their points for a J or F class trip) just straight value for the reg. consumer- for anyone to be buying if they can use the 50% point rebate promo?

I wouldn't - just asking for a friend -- with the amount of fees and taxes(even if ur gold and fees are waived) and horrible availability what are AA points even good for now.
Premium travel on airlines like QR, EY etc.

Seven of us, trying to go from late June through mid August. All good August return dates seem to have a crazy route - TA to London, with an 11 hour layover from 9pm to 8am, to Chicago with 2 hours there and then a flight to ny. We booked for 48k miles per, figuring we would spend the night in A lounge or hotel. Apparently, the lounges close at 12. We asked AA if they can move us to the next day's flight from London to Chicago, giving us 35 hours instead of 11. They said they could for $300 a ticket, but that chase might be able to for free. We asked chase who said that once you break it up, you have to pay separate fares which will be much more.
The prospect of 11 overnight hours in the airport with my 5 kids is not appealing. We have until tomorrow night to cancel.
Any advice?

airport hotel for one night...maybe a suite to accommodate everyone. Wouldnt cost you nearly as much as $300 per person.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.
