Flying from NYC to London with Starwood Points
« on: October 27, 2010, 09:55:06 PM »
Dan Thanks for your public service!!!

I'm flying to London from NYC. I have plenty of SPG points. There is availability with AA, BA, and Delta (on Delta I also have 60k miles). I know I should be able to figure it out from all the posts but I'm hopelessly confused! What is the best option for me to get the most out of my SPG points?

Thanks a lot

Assuming that the all the airlines have good availability, AA will be 40K (if flight is before May 15), DL will be 60K for Coach

the best value it seems is to use 68K ana, which you could use to fly virgin first

To fly a round trip on NYC-LHR on virgin upper class with ANA miles is 63,000 miles plus aprox. $250 in taxes & fees

Sounds like a good plan. How do I book Virgin with ANA miles?

have you already joined ANAs program? if not it can a week+ till you get your card and info and till then you cant transfer any Miles into teh acct.

That said I wouldnt transfer anything unless you know 100% that what you want is available, I dont recall how long it takes for the SPG-ANA transfer to go thru , so unless you can get them to put it on Hold or they tell you they are numerous seats available (which can change in an instant) be prepared that by the time the transfer goes thru you might not have a flight to book any longer that is available and you cant get teh transaction reversed

So to be clear (Dan  :-[) Once I do the transfer and there are seats available on virgin--who actually books the ticket for me Virgin or ANA? Sorry for my ignorance
