Flying Over the Date Line on Rosh Chodesh
« on: December 21, 2014, 10:16:57 PM »
So, I'm flying to Tokyo tomorrow. The sun won't set on the flight, so I usually wouldn't daven again, just say Shir Shel Yom. I'm being yotze on nerot chanukah for the 7th night by home.  The one thing I'm not clear on is whether I should say musaf again for the second day of RC. I asked my LOR but he didn't have an answer. What would y'all do?

To make the question clearer, what are the times of the flight?

Ask another LOR.

You don't repeat it.
Even though the Ta'arich changed, many Poskim hold that for the period of time between crossing the dateline and reaching civilization, you have to go L'chumra of both Ta'arichim. In which case you can't daven Musaf because Sofek Brochos L'Hokel, and Mussaf cannot be davened as a Nedovoh.

Who said the international dateline has any standing in halacha?

What if they moved it tomorrow?

thats exactly why there is a safek to begin with
we ignore the international dateline and follow either rav tukachinsk or CI
but the international dateline sets the clock so thats why it interferes
