Any DP's on Dominican Republic?
I had problems in Punta Cana. Every bag was sent through a scanner. Cooked was fine but they took away raw chickens and meat, USDA label may have helped.

Yeah. All bags were scanned in Puerto Plata as well. Rules seemed pretty arbitrary though. They took away some cooked eggs, but after DW distracted them they let all of our Shabbos food through.

I flew out of POP, small airport, interesting policies. Ya, Punta Cana was also rather unofficial, we nearly snuck some by during the incident as well.

Does anyone have experience with traveling with food to "Dominica", its not the same country as the Dominican republic.
I found cheap united mile flights and IHG hotel to book on the island.

Beef only, 3kg pp. No chicken unless retorted. Needs to be manufacturer sealed with contents and country of origin clearly labeled. Dairy only if with no fresh fruit, 2kg pp. Everything else is the same rules as the U.S. They wanted to take away my beef jerky (U.S. origin) but I argued that it was shelf stable and allowed in. A supervisor agreed.

They were absolutely meticulous in my case, going through each and every label and weighing everything.

Daneli's in MEL can pack you up everything according to code.

No experience but officially you need a permit to bring in meat and some other random foodstuffs.

Hey does anyone have experience with food restrictions for Japan??

I would love to be able to bring at least some of my own meals (milchigs and flieshigs) that way I don’t need to be 100% reliant in Chabad for food. But I’m seeing online that it’s is not that simple.

Is there any way that some sorta meat/cheese can be brought in? (I.e. cooked, religious purposes, baby needs it, etc.)
And how strict are they actually? (Any chance I can sneak in and what would be the consequences)

I brought in meat on previous trips to Japan with no issue, so didn't even research it this time.

We had 2 bags of food when we noticed the signs warning of 3 years jail time and massive fines for bringing in any meat or chicken. AJK and I had a quick debate between declaring it or risking it.

In the end, we decided to risk it and I went first. I was immediately pulled over and told to hand over my passport and put my bags (including my Polar Bear bag) on a table.

I had my first ever panic attack. I felt the fight or flight sensation. Wondered if I was going to wind up like the bochurim in Japan. Couldn't even breathe as the agent asked me...if I was carrying any gold or bullion.

Gold or bullion? Erm, nope, none of that.

OK Mr. Ereff, have a nice visit to Japan.

FWIW, the shliach to Kyoto later told me that the worst they do is take away your meat if they catch you.

Also with meat?
No problem as in they didn't catch you? Or no problem as in nobody cares?
Thanks
yes. No problem as in no one asked me and second time in 2 years not having a problem

Declaring will get your food taken away so not really sure how that would benefit you. If you don't declare and are caught, there can be sanctions. I got caught bringing in blueberries and raspberries by accident. The dog smelled my bag while we were waiting for our luggage. The officers took them away and that was that. They didn't ask for my passport or anything.

Then again, there are big signs at immigration and customs in English with illustrations that spell out the penalty for bringing in meat products which includes potential fine and imprisonment. It really just depends on your risk tolerance. If everything is parve/milchig, you'll have no issue and no need to declare.

Yes I didn’t declare anything and forgot I had a tomato with me. They opened my cooler and saw my sealed cold cuts from the US and had no problem with them they just reported me for the tomato. I also had cooked vacuum sealed meals which they did not see because the cold cuts where on top and they didn’t empty my full cooler.
