[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Wide angle lens for 299. Bought it to try it out and didn't end up needing/wanting it. Return window to amazon passed over the holidays and i forgot about it. They asked for receipt, took about a week, and refunded fully without sending back. Purchased on platinum card.

Nope. If it's all sales are final then you can use return protection. Stores like Target (90 days) or Kohls (not sure there is a limit) would obviously not be allowed as you can take it back to the store.

If they make you ship it, do they give you a shipping label or do I have to pay for shipping?

you have to pay for shipping. However some say they have been refunded on shipping costs some say they have not.
If I would be you I would just take the receipt of the shipping costs and put your claim # and fax it in and wait to see if they refund you shipping charges.

if stores require you to pay for shipping costs of returns (6pm) or have restocking fees (Verizon) or only offer store credit- Are they eligible as well?

I know when you fill out a return claim a choice is restocking fee. Not sure how much that gets you.
PUTPAC. they will answer all your questions. Don't need to give them any info.

Just responsding to the thread topic.....

I purchased 4 suits online (on different amex cards) and they were all non-returnable or had very short return periods. I first filed return protection claim on two of them (2 x $216) about a month later, and they credited me without asking for me to send them in. Then I filed another a few weeks after that (1 x $320) and they made me send it in before crediting me $300. A couple of weeks later, I filed again for the 4th suit ($216), and they credited me without making me send it in.

have a dell laptop bought with Amex with 1 yr warranty
computer was dropped recently.....screen was fractured and small cracks in the case.

Still in the first yr from purchase-of course dell won't cover the incident....will Amex?  Now or after the warranty is up, if at all?

Wow, that's impressive.
Even Dan said that he makes use of this benefit multiple times per year for years.

Anybody ever had AMEX retroactively ask them to send everything back due to overuse of this benefit?

Just saying....

Want to buy a watch at macys and have them adjust the links. Once they do that it's non-returnable. Would Return Protection apply?

You can't return a watch if you adjust the links? Never heard of that.

I mean take out the extra links in the bracelet. That's what salesperson told me.

What if you do it yourself? And just put them back? Anyways I'd think it would be covered.

Watches are officially not eligible for return protection.

It's very straight forward from their terms and conditions: "You may be required to send the purchased item to us, in which case we will reimburse you for shipping cost."
