[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

This is a little OT, but iam dealing now with Chase about return protatction, its the biggest PITA i ever had with a compeny, not only do they request the item back (under $100) I have to pay shipping to TX , its about $30-$40 and they make u send all documents , and then some.                                            First they deneid it bcuz he says that they sew on eBay the he accepts returns, so i told tham that he dosnt if its open, so they said i have to send it proving that he dosnt takeopened items, so i told tham go on eBay & on the same plece where its says that he accepts returns it also says not if openad but NO I have to send it in. NEVER EVER USE CHASE for things you need RP-PP etc..
stop rant
They say chase sucka for this.
OT have you been taking spelling and grammar lessons from pixi?

I put in a claim for $85.99 and only got back $55, is that normal? It was for a few items on same receipt.
Did you put in claim for each item within one claim? Need more details...

on dans post in 2012 it says that even if you cancel a card you will still be able to make a claim if you have other open cards.

i closed my platinum card and submitted a claim - they denied it becausde the card is closed, but i have other open cards (spg etc).

in their policy it says
"d. A refund will not be paid
if, on the date we receive your Return Protection request any amount on your eligible Card
account is past due for one or more billing cycle(s) or your Card is canceled. "

so whats the deal. has the policy changed since Dan wrote the post? do i call back and say i have other cards open?

If it credit on a cancelled card a few weeks ago.

Meaning you made the claim before you closed it, and got the credit after it was already closed, or you le'chatchila made the claim after you closed the card?

I was thinking about the timeline for purchase protection. According to Amex's terms, you have 30 days to report your loss/incident. This would give this benefit a real-world coverage of 120 days of protection then, right?

Hi, if purchase was made on authorized card (which has different card #), who should file the claim? primary card holder or authorized user? Thanks!

Just filed return protection for a nursing pump. The cost was $45 and I didn't have to return the item.

What did you put down it was? Medical supplies are specifically excluded.
