If I file a claim for return protection for an item I paid $500, will they ask me to return the item even though they are only refunding $300?

I just filed a return protection claim for a $900 item - they gave me $300 back and did not ask for the item

Amex called and told me to send the item in. I haven't yet, and I got an email that all they need is the receipt.

Filed a rp claim on a suit which I had done alterations (hemmed and fixed the waist) and got refunded the price of the suit ($200) but not the alterations (25). the charge for the alterations was stated explicitly on the same receipt as the suit itself so I thought they might deny the whole claim but they didn't. I sent in the receipt but they didn't ask for the suit back

If I can still return the item to the original store (it's within the 30 days), however the store will charge a 10% restocking fee, can I file a RP claim?

Yes you can, but to be on the safe side rather wait till the 30 days passes

i wanted to do that with Next. they charge shipping fee to send back. i asked AMEX if they can refund the shipping charge. the CSR said, no, but just wait till their policy expires and file a claim!

I'm not sure if my question belongs to this thread. Dan mentioned that we could reject the terms of the rebate card, and get a check instead.

Where can I find more info about amex rebates? Does amex ask to fill out rebate form and send it them?
