[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

If I paid some of the charge with a Store Gift card (BB) do I put the amount that was charged on my Amax or the full Purchase price?

No, not my first return. That's why I knew this seems to be different. It's actually the first time they're asking for an itemized receipt under $100 from me.
So I was wondering if something changed and this will be standard procedure now.
And no, I didn't excessively return

They been asking me for receipts alot lately. Maybe more claims means more receipts?

All they care is what you paid for it. Amex offers are separate and are not related to the insurance exposure.
Also, you can quote multiple posts within one post. no need to have 3 posts in succession.

'Return Protection offers you an extended return policy on eligible items charged entirely on an
eligible American Express® Card. '

I just had Amex deny a return claim on the grounds that the entire purchase must be made on Amex card whereas I used a $20 PayPal credit towards a part of the purchase. Has anyone had this happen to them? Are there any workarounds?

Purchase protection question:

I submitted a claim for a laptop which received a little damage to the LCD screen. I had the damage assessed at an authorized repair facility and the form sent it.

Now they wrote me a letter saying my claim is closed, that they're refunding the diagnosis charge (which they're bound to do anyhow), followed by this cryptic paragraph:

"Any person who knowingly makes or knowingly assists, abets, solicits or conspires with another to make a false report of the theft, destruction, damage or conversion of any motor vehicle to a law enforcement agency, the department of motor vehicles or an insurance company, commits a fraudulent insurance act, which is a crime, and shall also be subject to a civil penalty not to exceed five thousand dollars and the value of the subject motor vehicle or stated claim for each violation."

Does this look like a mistake?

That's the standard text in every claim, whether its RP, PP, or EW.

I just searched my email for that paragraph and found that I've made 13 claims over the years - 4 RP, 3 PP, and 6 EW (although a couple of those were re-submissions of existing claims). That sounds excessive to me, anyone care to chime in with their totals?

EDIT: Upon further investigation its only 3 EW, they send 2 emails for those claims each time. All  7 of my PP and RP claims were paid out within 2 days, whereas all 3 of my EW claims took at least a week.
