$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Claim submitted last night, approved today. Didn't ask for the item.
Claim submitted more than a week ago for RP. $30 item. They asked for store receipt. Took me a while to find it. Faxed it in last Friday, still didn't hear from them and the case is still open.

Filed my claim yesterday. Got an e-mail from AmEx in the middle of the night saying they want an itemized receipt, which I faxed to them this morning. We'll see what the turnaround is like for me, but I'm not getting my hopes up  :-\ I expect it to take a coupe/few weeks.

expect nothign and you wont be dissapointed. I filed a claim last night and got a call with questions about why i want to return and the condition today. no email about receipts yet.

not sure about that but the last time i did RP the rep called me and wanted to know exactly why i'm returning and why i bought it in the first place, etc...

Nah, I think it's standard. I was asked why I wanted to return the item, and this is my first RP claim, ever.

Got the phone call from AmEx this afternoon, so about 28 hours after I filed my claim online. As you guys said, the person from AmEx asked the reason for the return and why they wouldn't accept it. As it was a clothing item, they asked if it was in "like new" condition, if it was defective, and specifically if the tags were still on it. I clarified that it IS like new, and was not defective, and that the tags were already removed (maybe this made a difference? A poster on this thread back in 2012 dealt with a dress from the same company and was asked to ship it to them, but it had the tags still on it). They said ok and the credit should be processed 14 days after the documentation is received. No mention of shipping the product to them. To clarify, this is my first experience using this card benefit too.

All they care is what you paid for it. Amex offers are separate and are not related to the insurance exposure.
