$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Got approved today after a month for a SSD from Amazon $140, did not have to return the item.

I want to buy something on sale for my wife from a Frum owned store. Issue is their sale is fine and no returns or exchanges. I honestly feel guilty buying something that has a 50/50 chance of being returned.
Am I doing anything wrong with Amex by making this purchase?
Will the store be charged if I file the claim and it is approved?

ime no. you would need to wait till the company no longer accepts the return and then file a claim (within the 90 days of course)
Does this always work? I want to buy a fairly expensive (~$250) and large item from a site with 30 day return policy + buyer pays return shipping - so that idea sounds perfect for me if it always works.

No such thing as always. Read through the thread. Lots of mixed cases. It should work but there's no guarantee

I put in a return protection claim for a luggage bag that I ended up not using for a trip. It's outside the 60-day return window but within the 90-day return window.

Anyway, I faxed in the requested receipts. An hour later, I noticed a missed call from 800-645-9700, which is apparently Amex Assurance. They also left a voicemail asking me to call to because they have "some information to review" with me regarding my claim.

Can't call until later in the day. Any idea what's up? Seems like a very simple claim, so not sure what the issue is.

Indeed. Just called on my lunch break. They basically just had me go over the information I had already provided to them on the claim form. They also hadn't actually processed my receipt.

This makes me think that it's probably a better idea just to file a claim over the phone, if submitting a claim (or at least in this case a high value claim of over $300) online will just result in a follow up call from Amex Assurance.

Meh. Takes longer over the phone. Receipt takes about 48 hours to process.
