$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

I had mine rejected due to merchant offering exchanges. Only problem is the merchant is sold out of EVERY item, so there is no item to exchange to  :o. And no way am I going to accept store credit for a store that has no items in stock...

Agreed, 2nd one makes no sense.

Also, I wonder if they only call for smaller stores vs national retailers, as I've had no issues returning Amazon that was past 30 days or Best Buy past 14, even though there's a pretty good chance both of those might take it back in the form of store credit.
Not Best Buy. They are brutal.

Wow. I am posting here because have become an even greater fan of Amex (was already a big fan) and less of a Chase boy.

I just got off the phone with Chase Ink Card Services 800-874-7702, and went through a long claim process for return protection. I'm actually returning the InfoGuard Shredders from Staples because I couldn't get staples to give me the rebate, and now it's too late to return the item to them.  Chase says this should be within the terms of the return protection policy, but they are making ME pay for shipping them the items.  It will cost a fortune to ship 10 shredders to Chase...not sure it's even worth it.  Oy.

However, after the month or so it takes, they approve it and don't ask for the items back, so was just curious what their rational is for that - if anything, I'd expect them to ask for it back every time for the time being. But guess there are no set rules here?
