$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

I put in a return protection claim for a luggage bag that I ended up not using for a trip. It's outside the 60-day return window but within the 90-day return window.

Anyway, I faxed in the requested receipts. An hour later, I noticed a missed call from 800-645-9700, which is apparently Amex Assurance. They also left a voicemail asking me to call to because they have "some information to review" with me regarding my claim.

Can't call until later in the day. Any idea what's up? Seems like a very simple claim, so not sure what the issue is.

Well, it's been about 14 business days since the last documents were received for my claim and when I talked with them.

Don't worry,  that's totally normal the email you got is a automatic email,  a RP claim can take from several days to weeks and you might get another email in the future,  if you faxed in all requested docs you can simply ignore those emails

seems they mean to say that you have to attempt to return even if the store would not take it back...

Made the claim on the phone. Phone rep said I need to send in receipt. That was more than 12 hrs ago and still no email.
Any chance that she was just saying the standard policy but they won't actually demand it? Is it usual to have to wait so long for the email?

Well, if they are asking for a receipt, they will want to see one. I'd call and explain. You might also want to touch base with the store about a receipt.

It still exists, but I and many others I know have also been asked for a lot more in the past few months

u can ask amex cs to investigate the charge and get a receipt from merchant and then use it for return protection

the more claims u make the more likely they r to ask for receipts ime.
