$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Is that the reg number? If so, they can't push it through. If it's an automatic approval then it goes, but the phone reps are not claims adjusters and cannot push anything through.

"A refund will not be paid if, on the date we receive your Return Protection request any amount on
your eligible Card account is past due for one or more billing cycle(s) or your Card is canceled."

Bought a playhouse from ToysRUs and decided to return it around 35 days later (still in box). I checked the website and it said no returns after 30 days, so I started an Amex return protection claim. When the rep asked if I tried to return to store I answered no, because the website said it was too late and no point in trying. Big mistake, because they denied the claim for that. After I got the denial, I called back to try to fix the claim and they said I can't. I asked if I could file a new claim and they said it won't work because it's an insurance claim and the denial is already on file.

I'm still within 90 days of purchase so I think I should still be covered by the protection. If my claim was denied originally because I didn't try to return to store, then why can't I try to return to store now and then refile? Does anyone have any advice?
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.
