[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Interesting. So... for return protection it needs to be undamaged, and for purchase protection it needs to be damaged, and in my case the phone is... neither? Too damaged for return protection but not damaged enough for purchase protection? So I'm stuck?
Id file a claim under purchase protection

Anyone have experience filing a claim on closed card/account? Terms don't say anything about it. Both pp and warranty say payment is contingent in the account being "current and in good standing". Rp has no such clause.

Regarding the $1000 per year claim limit on each card account,

does that year go per purchase date or claim date

I think they specifically removed that in order to allow for return protection on closed accounts. Remember reading that on one of my statements about a year ago. TARB.

based on below looks like you are correct
Answer (at least w/r/t PRG):

They removed the below language, seemingly implying once and for all that benefit works even if card is cancelled!

I bought items on 12/30 and 12/31 on a card that lost the RP benefit. The receipts show the December purchase dates. However, Amex recorded the charges as taking place 1/2 and 1/3.

Anyone have an idea whether these items are RP eligible? Do they go by the date you write on the claim and what's on the receipt, or on the date that the charge clears your card?

What's the actual transaction date on your amex account?

1/2 and 1/3. Several days after I actually made the purchases.

Okay, but which date goes by calendar year? If I made a purchase and the charge posted in December, but I made the claim in January, what calendar year does the claim fall under?

Or does it depend on what date you choose for "Date of Loss" in the claim process?

Did anybody else file a claim for ELEVTD recent purchase and have it denied?  Anybody try appealing?
My only issue is that ELEVTD didn't say on their website, at the time of purchase, that the website was closing...

I think I'm going to upgrade my amex everyday to a preferred. It's worth the $95 to have the peace of mind when buying stuff that can't be returned.
(I don't have any of the higher end amex cards)

I purchased the Nuna turtle and it's too heavy for my wife to carry around. She much prefers the doona. What's the chance of me being able to get refunded for it?

Since your receipt is gonna be in December it will go according to the time you made purchase so if purchase was made in December and filed in January it will go as last year[date that was purchased on

Or does it depend on what date you choose for "Date of Loss" in the claim process?

Anyone having issues with return protection (on a card which lost this benefit) for items purchased in December? I filed a claim a week ago and usually get refunded in 2 days or so, however so far I haven't heard a/t from Amex.

Yup, also denied. Haven't tried appealing.
There's a number on the ELEVTD site if you wanted to pursue it (maybe it's only a temporary closure?). But I'm pretty resigned.

Yeah, definitely slowed way down. Maybe because # of claims swelled? Or they cut staff when they cut the benefit?
Doesn't seem like a big deal, though.

Does Amex return protection cover the bugaboo fox and turtle? I am regretting the decision of purchasing 2 months ago such a large and bad traveling carriage. It doesn't fit well for my needs. What's the likelihood of getting some refund?
