[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

how do i put in the price of the item in euro or cash based on the value of usd to euro at that time?

I'd probably use the USD value shown on your CC statement

i bought something online from a company based in europe and paid in euro. i was billed on cc in usd but on reciept shows euro. will it be covered?
As long as the purchase was made in the US it should be covered. Just put in the amount that Amex billed you in USD.

i bought a few items on a single purchase so i dont have a way of figuring out the exact price in usd per item except by calculating the exchange rate for that day. is there a better idea?

As long as the purchase was made in the US it should be covered. Just put in the amount that Amex billed you in USD.

The T&C states:

"Purchases must be made in the 50 United States of America, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Palau, Guam and Northern Mariana Islands and charged in full on your eligible Card."

So it depends how Amex interprets/enforces that language. Is being physically present in the USA, but making a purchase from anywhere else in the world, sufficient? Or do they mean that both the customer and the merchant must be US based.

Only the purchase must be made in the US, the merchant can be from outside the US

You can always figure it out as a percentage of the total purchase.

I applied for the Gold AU on my wife's Platinum card. Set up a different login for it.
I see I am able to submit a return's protection claim from this card. Not sure it will go through, but I will probably give it a try.

Did this end up working? Gold AU RP claim through wife's platinum?

Does return protection work on a used item bought on eBay? ( Not auction)

@Yo ssi  is correct. Amex T&C states:

Items not eligible for a refund include:
10) purchased used and/or altered items (including, but not limited to, purchases at auction sites and second- hand stores)

Still in process. Email received 2 days ago with reference number. Nothing since. Checking status online it says active.

They haven't asked for documents yet. Mine was a small amount at $35 to test the process.

I received the credit today for the return using a Gold AU on Schwab Platinum card.

This was a small amount, for which they didn't ask me to upload the receipt or fill out form etc.
So I don't know if this works on large purchase which would have more scrutiny.
But it would seem to me, if purchases made with this card didn't have return protection it would have been a simple denial instead of the credit.

Anyone having issues submitting documents online? Ever since this past weekend, using the online document submission process is not working. They are not receiving documents, even if it shows "sent" on our end. Super annoying....have requested they submit a complaint to have their tech team look at it.

Does anyone know if I can file an RP claim for $200 worth of postage stamps?

ETA: Found it in the exclusions list. #25.

Does anyone here have experience getting a Return Protection claim approved for a smartwatch? I know that the terms & exclusions state that "jewelry (including watches)" are excluded, but I would think that a smartwatch is more of an electronics/technology item, not "jewelry" like a traditional watch. Any ideas? Thanks!
