[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Direct number: 800-225-3750

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

For the case where they approved the RP. Did it cause any clawback issues for your Dell credit?
No. And I don't believe there's any reason to think otherwise, since the credit comes from return protection, not from Dell.

Yeah from a logical perspective, I agree with you. But given how clawback-happy Amex can be, I wouldn't put anything past them.

Any tricks for dealing with this error message when trying to submit a claim: "Sorry, our system is not responding. Please try your request again later."

I tried an incognito window, but that didn't work either.

Happened to me a while back and then I ended up with 4 duplicate claims. So if you want to wait a few days you might find out that it actually went through.

Actually, the best thing to do if you get an error message after the final claims submission page is to go back to the main claims homepage (https://claims-center.americanexpress.com/home) and see if there's a new claim listed at the top. No need to wait a few days or wait for the confirmation e-mail to come (or not come, as the case may be), but, yeah, you definitely don't want to try to submit the claim a second (or third) time and end up with multiple claims for the same item.

For what it's worth, when I got 4 requests for documents, I just sent in for one claim and ignored the rest. Got my refund eventually. I just looked on that link and the other claims also say "Closed"

I would assume that they sent you a PDF letter when they closed the other claims? What's happened to me once or twice in the past is that I've submitted a claim and then gotten so busy that I didn't get around to submitting the documents within 60 days after their initial request. 30 days after the first request, they sent a reminder with the claims forms attached, and then 60 days after the first request (i.e., 30 days after the reminder), they sent a letter stating that they were putting the claim into a "dormant" status due to me not responding (at which point the claims were listed as "closed" on the claims homepage). The letter noted that if I were to later submit the requested documents, then they would still accept them and consider the claim. I did eventually submit the documents, and the claim was approved. So my guess is that they put your three duplicate claims into the same "dormant" status due to inactivity. I noticed that there was nothing negative in their "dormancy" letters, i.e., they didn't make it sound like my lack of response on one claim would cause me problems for future claims, or that they wouldn't allow future claims if I didn't first take care of the dormant one. So as with your experience, if worse comes to worst and someone ends up with duplicate claims, it seems like there's no harm in just pretending like the duplicate claims don't exist.

Looking in my email history I see they sent a couple of reminders but never sent a pdf about closing them.

Thanks. Any advice on how to resolve/get rid of that error though?

Personally, no, unfortunately. In a decade of using RP, I've seen that error come up at some times but then not again for a long time. Other times--and this doesn't appear to be the problem you're having--I've had it happen both on Firefox and Chrome that AmEx will sign me out before I accept the terms & conditions and submit the final page, and then that error will come up. I do sometimes get that same error and then check the homepage to make sure that the new claim really didn't get submitted, and then I'll go back and fill everything out a second or third time, and then it finally goes through. My guess is that it's a problem with their system, not yours, since it sounds like you generally haven't had that problem in the past...and if it's their system that's at fault, then I wouldn't think there'd be any way for us to change or avoid that, other than maybe just submitting some feedback to them and hoping that they'd try to fix it.

Is it no longer possible to file a claim for more than one item? There is a message that says "up to 25 items per claim" but I don't see how to add additional items.

It's just the message that shows up when you add the first item when filing a claim. It's always been there, but once the first item is added it's no longer possible to add additional items -- there used to be a link that let you do this.

I just tried to create a dummy claim just to test this, and it's exactly as you described: At first, there's the normal option of "Add item (up to 25 items)", but once you finish adding the first item, that "Add item" option is gone, leaving only "cancel", "back", and "continue", and I tried both "back" and "continue" but neither of them brought me anywhere where I had the option to add a second item. Looks like another glitch in their system, hopefully one that they'll quickly fix.

Also, I submitted a couple of claims six days ago, and have yet to receive the claims forms (although I did receive the confirmation e-mails within 48 hours). Are other people experiencing delays with their claims?

I cleared all amex cookies and that seemed to work (although it could also just be a coincidence).

before pressing next, click the dropdown on the item that you just entered, then close it, and the add item shows up
