[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Would an electric scooter be excluded under “motorized vehicle”?

Not a car expert, but I know that people in the auto industry generally refer to the thing that makes gas-powered vehicles run as an "engine" and the thing that makes an electric vehicle run as a "motor". I even tried to Google it, and came up with the following from the US Department of Energy: "All-electric vehicles, also referred to as battery electric vehicles (BEVs), have an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine." So to me that would mean that an electric vehicle of any type would most likely be considered by AmEx Assurance as a "motorized vehicle". Then again, smartwatches aren't excluded even though "watches" are, so anything's possible, I guess!

Depends on the agent.

I have had several ebikes and hover boards accepted.

But then had two buggy attachments for the hover boards rejected because they went on a motorized item.
Two other of the same buggy attachments were approved at around the same time.

As of right now, they have removed the ability to submit return protection claims online for one of my Hilton Aspire cards. Not even showing baggage insurance as an option.

Anyone know what’s going on? It’s only showing extended warranty and purchase protection.

It’s showing all the right options for my other cards.

Is this a glitch?

I'd assume that it's a glitch, since they've had so many of them over the past year or two. If it doesn't resolve itself within a couple of days, I'd say you might try calling them, although if it's on the technical side, there's not much that the folks answering the phones can do except submit a "ticket" to have someone on the tech side take a look at it. Anyhow, I just tried to check, and my Aspire card shows all four claims options including Return Protection, and my other cards do, too (though some only show three since not all cards have baggage protection).

Speaking of glitches, they just sent me a request for further evidence for a claim that I submitted the original documentation for over three weeks ago...but they didn't actually list what additional evidence they wanted, just a bullet point and a blank line after it. I guess I'll just assume that they want photos, since that's the natural next step, but you'd think they'd get their act together enough to notice when they haven't properly filled out their form letter.

At that point, I'd suggest just calling in. Often times the "correspondence" they send out doesn't reflect what the internal notes actually state. The actual claim examiners are overwhelmed from what I've heard when calling in and I'd also put it on less than adequate IT systems for requesting info from customers.

I bought a few pieces of clothing in one purchase from a local Lakewood store. I see on the receipt that $8 store credit which I had on my account was used for this purchase, and it shows as a gift card was used. I'm keeping one of the items which costs more than the $8. Will I still be eligible? I just tried to file, and they are now asking for me to fill out the form and include a picture of the receipt....

Unfortunately, I do not think you will be eligible. Their terms state that the entire purchase must’ve been put on your AMEX card.

I would still proceed with the claim because you can always state that the item you are attempting to return was fully paid for by your Amex and that the $8 credit goes towards whatever you're keeping. It may not work anyway but I definitely think it's worth a shot.

I bought an item which has $18 discount for first order.
So, $400 item, $18 discount for first order.
If I do a RP, will it be denied since it was having the $18 disocunt?
I paid the $390 (plus shipping which is $20) with Aspire card.

No, that shouldn't have any impact on your RP eligibility

I submitted a claim last week and got the credit on the same day without receiving any emails from them at all.

It seems that there is something wrong with their email system. I cannot receive any email from them recently. There is no email for case confirmation or final decision.

Filed a claim May 4 and have received no communication from them at all which is not the norm. No confirmation, no request for docs, nothing.

Strange. I filed a couple claims the last week of April, and the request for documents came the next morning (skipping the usual step of receiving an e-mail confirmation within a day or two). They don't seem to be approving the claims any faster, but I was surprised to get the documents request so quickly. Is your claims homepage showing a row for your newly-submitted claim in the table of claims?

Yes, it shows me the last 5 digits of the card number the charge was on, the claim number, the benefit a claim was filed for (Return Protection) and that the status is "Open". Date document last received is obviously blank.

But there have still been zero emails from them to date.

I filed a claim back in early April and recently got it approved. 29 days from when I submitted my forms to the final approval. Still slow but they're getting through them.

Is it at all possible that you might have mistyped your e-mail address? That's one of the fields that's never pre-filled when I submit a claim, and I try to always remember to double-check it, since without them having the correct e-mail address, there's no way that I would receive any correspondence from them. It might just be a fluke, as I've had strange things like this happen once or twice before, but if you don't receive anything by the seven-day mark, then you should probably call them and check.

No I didn't mistype my email - the proof being that I actually just received and email with the claims docs from them a few minutes ago and came here to report just that.  It's very odd that it took this long, but it is what it is.
