$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Just had a return protection claim that was almost $300, didn't make me return the item, I just had to send an itemized receipt

Cole Haan shoes for $49.95. Put in a claim on the phone and was instantly closed. They didn't mention anything about returning item and case is closed so guess I don't have to return them. No need to send in receipt, just asked me for item description.

If you google Amex return protection you can see all the cards that offer it and what the amounts are. However, not sure that super high end cards are featured there.

Got wife jewelry for $1200 she lost it at a wedding, Amex asked for receipt and got credit.

Also bought a photo printer from adorama for $400 for a project in the end the project didn't happen and adorama wouldn't take it back was still in box. Amex just asked for receipt and sent credit didn't ask for item.
