$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. It's not a cash flow issue. It's the uncertainty of not knowing whether I'd win the dispute or not (though I've generally had good luck with Amex disputes).

Back to the original issue, does a RP claim preclude a dispute for the balance?

Bought a food processor in Israel.  Seller hard sold me a cheaper brand and one of the blades broke on the second use.  He tells me I must have misused, he's prepared to send it to the importer but he thinks they will decline to cover.  Dispute charge or return protection?

To my understanding return protection wont hurt vendor like a chargeback -> so to be nice you should probs due return protection,

Got a different type of letter back from Amex after my claim yesterday, with a lot more conditions to have the claim processed. Have they changed the rules?

It's not a lot more conditions, they just want you to fill out all information (Price, price difference, date delivered, Serial Number, etc) and sign it now, instead of having a claim specialist call you. Takes 5 minutes to fill it out.

Doesn't return protection only work for items bought in the us?

I wish I had searched and found this thread before buying as I saw something about "recognized merchant." but I don't see anything in the terms and conditions that say it must be from a big company rather than an individual seller.

EBay is ok, however watches are not and item must be new. For it probably not a watch, but depending on if the receipt says new other, it may not fly.

the delivery box was empty or the ipad box? Was the seal (either on deliery box or ipad box) broken or intact? Regardless this isn't a RP issue. if anything its a dispute, however amex will tell you to first try to work it out with the retailer.

 filed a RP for a pair of eye glasses the frames were 189.00 lenses were 210.00 i got the benefit fir the frames but the lenses were denied as it is  a custom item. They did not ask me to return the item

The order email have payment confirmation and such? That should be fine.

mastercard-my first claim (combination lock-90.00) did not have to return. all subsequent claims(mostly clothing under 100.00) had to be returned
