[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

My wife bought a TV stand for $400 and has since decided she no longer likes it.  The retailers 14 day return period has since passed.  Since it is over $300 can I still use return protection?  Thanks for your help.
Yes. But they will only cover up to $300

Yes, but it's up to $300, so you'll get $300.

Made a claim for a pair of shoes was approved without having to send it in.
Was like $90.00
On a side note I mistakenly claimed it on the wrong card.
But sent in the correct statement I was credit on the acct I claimed not the actual card I used.

Did someone experience having an easier process with Amex RP and PP when using the platinum or the gold card vs a no annual fee card?

Any issues with using return protection for a video game console like PS4?
Or game controller for said video game console?

What is the policy on refurbished items? They denied me saying it was used.

I think we should rename the thread, as I don't know if anyone has ever been asked to actually return the item.
Hey there! I am using DansDeals Forums.

In my experience, when I opened a PP claim if it was on a af card then most of the times they didn't ask for any documentation.

Idk what you’re story is but I tried doing RP on a pair of eyeglasses & was denied & called back to explain that I was just returning a frame not lenses & was then approved.
Made a separate receipt only for the glasses and was approved.

Anyone ever had luck with the return shipping fee? when a product had a restocking fee, which required you to return the product vs sending it to amex?
When there's a 20% restocking fee what's technically the best way to go about it?  Your going to need to pay The shipping both ways. Is it best to wait till after the 30 day return period is up and then have to deal with amex and return to them. Or file for the 20% restocking fee and lose out on the shipping.
I would assume it's worth it to deal with amex vs paying for the shipping?

I've done it for a restocking fee but not for return shipping.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I've done it for a restocking fee but not for return shipping.
I filed the case on Sunday ,they gave me $50 on Monday and now I have to decide what I'm doing with the product.
If they see I get a refund for 250 that means they can see I got a full refund and the only thing I had to pay for was to return shipping.
it seems the restocking fee was only tackled onto the product if it's damaged or not in new condition which I won't know until I return it and let them decide. it's in brand new condition but you never know with these companies what they're going to make up.

Prescription eyeglasses - worth a shot or does that fall under:
"17. health care items and /or medical equipment (including, but not limited to, blood pressure machines and diabetes equipment, items or supplies used for maternity care);"
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Possible goes under items made to custom order?

I was about to delete my post, I see it was already discussed.

I guess I will try to get just the frame back at least.

Thanks

Has anyone here tried return protection ( or purchase protection) on a car part?

Looking to order an upgraded stereo, but it seems in may be excluded.

It'll be excluded for protection - I've previously had a claim denied for an interior car accessory.

Do items have to be brand new?

I was thinking of buying a office chair from Staples but they only have a 14 day return policy and I feel like I might need more time to know whether I like it or not

First woman I spoke to told me all items have to be brand new which really didn't make any sense

The second guy I spoke to just read the policy verbatim and that doesn't really help me. He said he assumes that it would apply more to electronics like if you dropped it or something. And I might probably be covered🙄

So they didn't really clarify anything for me

From my understanding the item has to be like new but it also States it can't be visibly used so I'm not sure if that means by taking a baseball bat to the chair showing heavy usage or lightly used in like new condition.

It's not an excluded item but I have to obviously put the chair together and sit in it
