[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Sounds more like a dispute than a situation for return protection.

It is, that's why I said it's OT.
I didn't see a dedicated thread to the topic, so I put it here.

In short, I'm disputing that I received the merchandise that I paid for. Anyone have experience with this?

Missed the OT warning.

In any case, there's no real downside to disputing. I'd definitely give it a whirl, though personally I'd try to address it with the merchant first.

What do you mean by part exchange? I will switch it in for a new camera and pay less than I'd pay at a store?
Yes! Although maybe it will just be a refurb, but they have good deals.
Google "canon loyalty program".

I did, and his answer was " you never told me about that issue".
Hard to make much progress with that.

Good. Now is where the other part of my post comes into play.

Any reason why return protection shouldn't work for items bought on ebay?

ETA: quick search and I found this

Quote
Are eBay purchases covered?
I have seen multiple people post on the forum asking “Does AmEx Return Protection cover eBay or Craiglist? Well for starters, the program only covers “like new” items, so that would automatically exclude any used items being sold through those websites. But what about new items sold on eBay… do they qualify or not?
I really wasn’t able to find a conclusive answer to this question anywhere online, so I called up American Express myself to ask. I spoke with a representative in the Return Protection department and she stated that eBay purchases are only covered if (a) they fit within all of the other guidelines, and (b) they are sold be a “recognized merchant.” She said individuals selling items on eBay would not be considered a recognized merchant and therefore would not qualify.
Call AmEx to check/clarify eligibility for a given eBay purchase before you buy.

I've used AMEX return protection in the past mostly for items over $100 but I just used it to return a $40 skirt my wife bought from a store that went out of business.

In the past I've always had to fax in the receipt and then send in the item to get the refund.
This time though they just credited my account within a few days without even getting the receipt or asking for the skirt back!

This was on an SPG Consumer card

You can always try. I guess it's a YMMV. May also depend on if the item was over $100 or not..

Filed a claim for a womans dress.
They sent me email same day, to send the receipt, and also says on letter, afterwards they will request me to send in the item.
The status says awaiting receipt, does that mean for sure they will also request the item back?

i think the gold also is only up to $300 but the chase sapphire gives you up to $500, also Amex has a premium protection option for a couple bucks a year which gives you up to $600, but i don't think you will find anything close to $1300

Just used return protection for a dress bought on final sale @ BCBG. After taxes the dress came out to $307.
Filed a claim, HAD TO SEND IT BACK, that costed about another $7 for usps. so my total spent was $314, I figured the $14 loss was worth it here, the dress was never worn and prob will never get worn, so we filed the claim, YES we had to send it bad. Last night we got credited $300 though. (the max)

I think that was the conclusion a while ago. Nevertheless I decided to share my experience.
Under $100 you do not need to to send it back, and over $100 you will need to send it back.

Of course its YMMV as they can ask you to send it back even for a $5 item if they want.

They denied my return protection claim as the item  cant be malfunctioning, it has to be in new condition
