[Updated With More Changes] Major Changes Are Coming For American Express Benefits! Master Chart Of What’s Being Added And Removed - https://www.dansdeals.com/credit-cards/major-changes-coming-american-express-benefits-master-chart-whats-added-removed/

$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Manager says there is no way for her to even check on if there was a return, since it is outside the return window. She showed on her computer screen how she cannot lookup the order or see if there was a return.
Anyway, I am just dropping this claim with Amex.
Did you try sending to Amex an email from the store confirming that this order number is not eligible for return? Ask the manager to confirm it VIA email.

Not worth my time to go to the store to try to have manager send an email. That would be very weird. Just not worth it. Also now I am in a different state from the store.

If this were my only claim I would pursue it in argument with Amex.

There are other fish to fry.

Is there a similar thread for other credit cards that offer return protection (e.g. capital one venture x)?

Does return protection cover polarized sunglasses like from Oakley? I don't see it mentioned under the exclusion list. Any one has any experience on claiming on it?

No reason it would be excluded

Purchased a piece of furniture in an outlet store. The items there are new but most have some scratches or nicks and are therefore sold at a discount. Would you use return protection or purchase protection on an item like this?

What about being asked for the same documentation several times? I got asked for pictures and tracking information three times for the same claim. I kept on submitting the same PDF file yet again (I am fairly certain I submitted the files correctly each time) until it finally got approved. Anyone have this happen to them also?

DP: I submitted a claim a week ago. On my account I saw instantly that I got the refund. I only received the confirmation email from my claim 1 week later. (It was a Woot charge for $11 which only accepts returns for $20+)

You mean, there should not be any issues when I submit claim, right?

Is it risky to max out the $1000 on multiple cards even if it is for legitimate reasons ? Are there DP’s of Amex banning accounts for doing this ?

What’s the best way to get a pair of shoes approved ? They were worn once and are very uncomfortable.

As long as they're still in "new" condition--which I'd assume they are since you only wore them once and probably not for very long if you were uncomfortable--and you still have the packaging, I wouldn't think you'd have any problems. Just mark them as "New" and in your explanation state that you tried them on and they were "very uncomfortable", and that should be sufficient. I had the same situation about two years ago, and got approved without issue. Just make sure that they ARE in "new" condition and that you have the packaging, just in case they ask for photos, like they've been doing more often over the past few months! :-)
