$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Thanks! I never knew that, because the one time I used it I got a call from the merchant screaming at me that I ruined his credit with Amex, and I'm a stealer etc. Therefore I thought it has to do with the merchant.
I guess they can call store to verify that it indeed cant be returned

Why do you say that? I explicitly wrote in the SM that I want to return it, and that I wan't to be covered under return protection.

My hp touchpad stopped working, the touch screen doesn't respond, I want to file a claim, but I'm case they ask me to send it back,I want to wipe it.

You mentioned in your post this morning about the return protection.  I also used their broken or stolen protection. 

My iPhone got stolen from a gym locker within a month of my buying it.  I filed a claim with Amex (Blue Cash Grandfathered 5%) and they refunded the purchase with no request for police report.

I bought a waterpik from amazon and used it incorrectly and it broke.  I called Amex, described to them exactly what happened and they refunded it without questions.

I regularly return small purchases to them and have never been asked for the item.  I, like Dan, usually donate the item to a charity.

I've used their various protections to legitimately save thousands of dollars over the years.

This is the reason I don't buy and use gift cards for purchases.  Everything goes on the Amex so I can use their protection.

The latter,  but in the past where a family member tried disputing a charge and merchant didn't want to give in amex just credited it as a courtesy

Water leaking into $180 pair of prescription goggles.
I first tried extended warrantee but AMEX wanted me to send proof of the company warranty length.
After some correspondence and not getting anywhere, I voluntarily pulled the claim and filed for purchase protection, just got refunded (a few days later), and they didn't ask for the goggles.
