$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

Got turned down on claim for water leakage on backup camera (from tiger direct) due T&C excluding auto parts. I saw the same terms under warrenty so didn't try it.
Is return protection and purchase protection the same?

Yes. That's the standard form they send. When they approve you'll find out if they want the item.

I called up bec staples wouldnt take back a gps i bought (still in original packaging) Amex on the spot approved it and closed the case and didnt say to return the gps.

I bought something from amazon on my SPG, they said it would arrive today by 8pm by UPS. Judging by the tracking, it won't arrive until tomorrow. Is this something that I can ask amex for a refund for?

From my experience with them they'll probably give me a $5 credit. Definitely not $400 that I paid for the item.

Can't see why it would affect your RP claim. At most they'll ask for an itemized receipt.

Wow. Visa Signature RP and Amex RP are not equal.  I'v used VS (with my Chase cards) in the past for return protection, extended warranty, etc.  They make you submit a heap of documents, send back your item (at your expense), and they won't send you a check until you've followed up at least 5 times by phone.

Not so with Amex. Wow. Just had my first experience with them. Called with my claim yesterday, told them date of purchase and description of items.  My account was credited today.

I always thought I was covered with my Chase cards, but wow, what a difference!
