$300 per item, 1K per card per year. So if you have an SPG card and a PRG card you'll only have 2k of total RP coverage, regardless of how many AUs you have on each card.

If you are unsure if an item qualifies for RP, then instead of asking for opinions here (slightly better than asking medical advice on facebook mind you), PUTPAC and ask the RP reps. You don't need to give your name or card info, just say you have an item or you will be buying an item and the store has a crappy return policy and want to make sure if there is a problem you can return it.

or
Return Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/return This is for when, in the first 3 months, the original seller won't accept a return, and the product is still in new condition.
Purchase Protection:  www.americanexpress.com/purchase This is for when, in the first 3 months, a purchase is lost, stolen, or broken.
Extended Warranty: www.americanexpress.com/warranty This covers only what the original warranty covers and extends it for up to 1 year.

Amex can approve RP claims even after the card is closed/cancelled, though YMMV.

Two questions:

1. Any limitation of how many Amex return protection claims can be made per year?

2. I know there is a cap about $1000 per year. But if I have two different AMEX cards (e.g., one AMEX golden delta, the other AMEX hilton),
does each card have a quote of $1000, or do the two card combined have $1000 in total?

TIA
each
-100000000

T&C for all cards (linked to PRG, but i confirmed for platinum as well) state
Quote
Refunds are limited
to $300 per eligible item, and $1,000 annually per eligible Card account.
I'll agree it is a bit ambiguous, but the implication is that 6 cards does not equal $6,000 in protection.  To confirm I called (800-297-8019) and asked that exact question, and the kind lady said it is for your account, even if you have 6 cards it is only $1,000.

your 100% wronge it says per card account, therefore if you have a plat and a gold you can claim $1k on each

It's AUs on the same account that don't get a new $1K allowance.

GRRRRRR. I just called again and this time she said card account means per card.  I hope I am wrong, but the language is very ambiguous. Have you done over $1,000?  That would be a way of confirming.

card account could mean the account that all cards are under.  I ask again, has anyone actually done more than $1,000 in a year?

Has anyone ever done an extended warranty on over 2k? I just filed my first claim but it's on a $2400 item. I'm wondering if I have a chance

years ago on a $2k+ laptop (to put it in perspective, it was bought in summer of 2004 with a 3 year warranty and died somewhere in the winter/spring of 2007/2008.

They asked (from an authorized repair shop) for an estimate on its repair cost ($800-$900ish) and with the information credited my account.  was pretty painless.

This never happened to me before...

I filed some claims for a pair of shoes and a suit  from MyHabit ($80 and $199) i got a letter saying to send in a receipt which i did, then i got follow up letters to send the item back.
I didn't get around to returning them for a week or so, but last night the credits posted and i got emails saying the claims have been closed although i have not yet returned the items!!

I imagine i'm in the clear here but does anyone think i still need to return the items?

It was a week between requesting the items back and the credit posting?

i would assume so, but this is the first time something like this happened to me and iv'e used the return protection literally tens of times, so i was wondering if anyone else has had this, and if they came after them to return later (as unlikely as it sounds)

Please allow for 30-45 days to resolve your claim. An American Express Customer Service representative may be in touch with you if any additional information is needed

Anybody ever got such an email after making a claim for return protection??
