Chazzerei. I don't think there's an equivalent to this (and the rest of the shtick the airlines play)  in any other industry.

Of course there is. How much does Verizon make off activation fees?

activation is different than change fees which the airlines testified doesnt cost as much... its used to offset lower fares...

someone who knows their way around here better than me, please post that in lieu of an interline agreement, southwest employees at the airport have the ability to purchase a replacement ticket for a passenger subject to their discretion as per testimony from the southwest Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Robert E. Jordan

So little understanding from the politicians on the issues.
Most are talking about personal problems.
Letting airlines get away with misleading answers.

Dan take it for a challenge to writeup all Q asked and misleading answers that were given!

now they're talking about inclusion. women on boards... who cares about this non sense. talk about the issues. some of which i think were answered pretty good but would have been impressed if one of these clowns would have said that these are huge companies etc... and occasionally there will be issues. and these congresspeople giving customer service opinions... like they're doing so well in that department. dan, waiting for that challenge/poll.

You tell me?

With change fees, an airline can charge  $1,000 (or more) to a family traveling internationally, for replacing one product/service with an identical replacement (same flights and fare, just on a different day). And I'm not talking about fare differences, just change fees.

Which still comes to only a small percentage of their customers while Verizon charges it to probably 80% of their customers over over a few year product cycle.

although the actual "hearing" is over, i spoke with congessman shuster's office (chairman of transportation committee) and they strongly recommended that we contact the committee as they are currently reviewing options for new legislation on airlines. they are reviewing yesterdays hearing as well as other info that they receive about customer complaints against airline practices
if they get dozens of complaints about mileage devaluations and other unfair practices, they will probably do something
THIS IS OUR CHANCE!!! CONTACT THEM, AND YOUR CONGRESSMEN NOW!!!
a short clear email and phone call is all they need. please repost. Dan, perhaps you can write a list of unethical airline behavior, especially regarding mileage programs, and how its obvious the airlines are bullying us as consumers, and post it on main site. Thanks!
