I had a similar (or even better) experience with BA coming back from Israel years ago. No Shabbos explanation was given on the PA, but all passengers were requested to remain seated, while a flight attendant took my hand luggage and helped me get off the plane ahead of everyone else.

It was smart that she first acknowledged to all of the passengers that due to their Shabbat needs, that this plane was cleared to go to the gate quicker, as well.

I, my father,  my aunt, and my uncle got the same from ElAl in the way to my mother's levaya since it was getting right with shkia but the real issue ended up being on the cargo side. We just made it.
