Miami is fun. And it can be a super cheap quick getaway often. But it's never my first choice.

Meanwhile I also don't understand people who travel to Miami (or other such places) in the summer when their own states have amazing places to go to.

I'd say I'm the opposite of a travel snob.
I'd rather go somewhere new, random etc. But I can have a good time anywhere :)
Even Miami.
+1 Its all about your mindset. New places can be exciting and all but sometimes you want to re-do an experience, and there is nothing wrong with that.

It also comes down to what the purpose of the vacation is. If all the person wants is a change in scenery to relax and not really do or see anything specific then going back to a place like Miami where the is plenty of frum infrastructure can be a great choice.

But there are plenty of other places that can be done. Especially in the summer.

true, but there are advantages in going back to a place you are familiar with as well.

Florida is also pretty cheap to get to usually.
