it can happen on back teeth too. not as common thoughare you referring to this?

Some communication from dentists to explain the kinds of things you are explaining here, rather than just say "you need 8 fillings" can go a long way in improving the impression/perception.

I can definitely relate to different approaches by different dentists. My current dentist tries to avoid recommending major procedures on functioning teeth, even when he knows they might not last long, as long as pushing off doesn't pose a threat of greater harm in his opinion. He definitely does communicate the options and his thoughts.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

How about:

Orthodontist #1: “I’ll need to pull 4 teeth to put braces”

Orthodontist #2: “No need to pull anything”

Orthodontist #1: “I’ll need to pull 4 teeth to put braces”

Orthodontist #2: “No need to pull anything”

More like:

Orthodontist: You should only need braces for two years at most.

Me five years later: So when am I getting my braces off??

Orthodontist: We need at least another six months.

Photographer: Smile, this is the last picture!
Photographer: Smile, just one or two more!

#1- quickest way to fix crowding (a little old school)
#2- don't need to pull teeth but take a little longer (and may require other therapies like palate expansion)

100%
I assumed that's standard practice but I guess not.
And I guess another lesson is, If you are going for a second opinion, bring as much information as possible. EG Dentist said a need an MO on #3 versus dentist said I need a filling in the back

Sometimes that's easier said than done. On my most recent extraction, I was hoping to avoid it. Would have required going to an endodotist in addition to an oral surgeon (and more than one if I wanted more than one opinion).  I rely heavily on my primary dentist.

Ushdadude, what's the best at-home method of teeth whitening. Is there any controversy over whitening strips?

Thank You.
$75 for one pack. $158 for two. I love when Amazon does that.
I'd imagine the quality is better, and lasts longer than strips? (Based on the price, and ofc the recommendation!)
S&S for 2-pack is cheaper

I see here on Ebay someone is selling it for cheaper (plus an offer), because it's expired. You think that should make a difference.

if it was stored properly should be fine.
