He probably got a nice earn-out in the Bankrate deal and made a nice chunk of change.  And I would imagine that he has an attractive incentive package to continue growing the TPG platform with Red Ventures - he's using their balance sheet to drive growth and hire people (no risk to him), and if/when things continue to work out, he'll do really well with his incentives.  Don't forget that Red Ventures isn't likely to own it forever - they will want to monetize their investment at some point, so TPG performance will be important to help them generate a decent return...

So my question still begs,   What are you guys estimating TPG makes a year off referrals?

Enough to support 100+ employees. Who cares and who could possibly know a hard number?

What would you say his cc referrals is making the blog?

Do you think its profitable?

I am sure part or all of his salary is based on performance.

IMHO, regardless if TPG is profitable at the moment, if they figure out a way to make some app with even minor travel benefits, they should have no hard time getting ppl to sign up and charge some a monthly fee which should be very profitable.

Long story short, the website started to explode. I caught the attention of national press and realized that I had a real business on my hands. In order to focus on content, I shuttered my award-booking business. (Sorry to the people who email every day asking if we will add that service — we don’t have plans to do so any time soon, but our new app launching early next year will have a ton of tools that will empower you to maximize your miles and points like never before.)

Keep in mind that TPG income includes payment by media websites to publish his articles.

The same ones that would give their first born to know how much you make.  :)

This is like the Jackie Mason bit. (paraphrasing) "All the Jews are in the audience thinking 'it's just a one man show, there's no orchestra or anything. There are 2500 seats, $150 a ticket. He's gotta be making at least a quarter of a million per show'"

Not entirely sure why TPG needs someone who led Yahoo Finance and Dow Jones Online.
Also not entirely sure why he needs 100+ employees...
Drew's hiring is more questionable to me.

TPG makes money by drawing in n00bs that aren't yet impacted by 5/24. But are they going to care about fancy flowcharts about which region is stronger for obscure excursionist perks?

Well, is the American consumer smart? They say they are smarter them ever but just how stupid were they in the first place?

N000bs will pay [TBD] if their so called trusted cc blog tells them.

If someone will stupidly sign up for a CC based off his article, why would they not pay a few dollars a month for the must info?

In no time every article will mention his app.

TPG calling the Business Green a 150K point signup bonus may just be the worst clickbait I've ever seen.

Maybe call CSR as having a 3MM point bonus (based on $1MM in travel spend)?

To be fair, nothing in the title says anything about any SUB.

"Amex Business Green Card now offering up to 150,000 points in the first 3 months"

but yea, terrible ''bonus"

And TPG has jumped the shark. Reviewer pays $142 for E+, doesn't sit in E+, and complains about E- comfort and service.
Amateur hour.
