Yesod Yosef
« on: May 30, 2011, 11:05:38 AM »
The ad on the main site today was for a school called Yesod Yosef. I am personally in attendance to Yesod Yosef this year and I can vouch it truely is an AMAZING program. I am getting a BA in just under 6 months for about $10,000 (which is crazy cheap for a proper college BA). I would love to hear people concerns or questions about this program because I feel this can help so many bochurim in yeshiva get a jump start on their career. Does anyone else know a better faster way to get a BA post here anything you want to disscus in regards to the word which can not be mentioned in most frum communities, "college"  ;)

Do you have to go there or are you doing it remotely?
Why didn't you do it Dan's way?

Yes they do offer a correspondents program! Heh thats a little complicated but in short The West Coast Talmudic  Seminary meaning the Rosh decided he is not giving a Bachelors degree anymore. The main reason was I do not particularly want to go on bochur shlichus for various different reasons (maybe we should make a separate thread about that.) So being a bochur who does not want to do bochur shlichus besides being labeled a "black sheep" by most hanhalas, I will not be spending the 5 years in the "system" required by most lubavitch yeshivas in order to receive a BA degree. In addition, a BA from yeshiva is not exactly the most respected BA by graduate schools. A BA from Yesod Yosef is the same accreditation as the university of Pennsylvania (an ivy league school.)

1. Excelsior College
2. Yes you can apply for financial aid!
3.The degree is a general studies degree if someone wants to add a major they can fulfill the major requirements through on line , cleps, or standard college and finish all the electives with the yeshiva.
4. Yesod Yosef offers correspondents courses. There are people curantly who work part time and attend classes part time. So Yes!

Excelsior College??

How a college degree becomes recognized as a proper accreditation is obviously not by the college itself but by a second party who decides if it is " a school of higher education." So it ends up that an Ivy league school and a college like Excelsior will be recognized by the same 2nd party to legitimize their degrees. reference http://www.msche.org/

JJ,

How does Yesod Yosef compare to TTI (Teaching and Training Institute)? They both go through Excelsior college and the cost is about the same, 10k for the BA.

Is there any reason you chose YY over TTI?

Actually TTI is the middle man between Excelsior and Yesod Yosef. What is unique about Yesod Yosef is they A. condense the courses to a format that is optimal for a student to learn the material for the exams, B. Arrange you a course map to receive the most credits in the shortest time, and C. They very thoroughly and personally prepare you and ensure that you are ready and going to pass the exams with flying colors before you actually take the exam. It is well worth it in my opinion to go through Yesod Yosef.

If I already have 120 credits, but I don't have a BA (bc the rosh said no :( ) is there a way they can take those credits and make it into a BA without me being there for 6 months?
