Im not a baki in hilchos shofar but i can't imagine he fufilled the mitzvah and it certainly won't make him more likely to do another mitzvah. That's aside from saying H' name in vane and that there a lot more productive ways to try to get other Jews to do mitzvot on rosh hashana....

I didn't say he fulfilled the mitzvah, I said he was trying his absolute best (to get someone) to do a big mitzvah.

How does "won't make him more likely to do another mitzvah" come into post here? Since when is that the purpose of a mitzvah?

The problem is the rishis of that guy just to make a funny video. Once he's done blowing the guy stops running.

A) that's what makes out so sad bc he has the desire and effort but it seems so misguided
B) how does that not come into the calculation? Especially in this case where he didn't even do a mitzvah and it won't get him to do a mitzvah again and if anything maybe it will make him less likely what did he accomplish.
And even if he did a mitzva this time but it would make him less likely to do it in the future would you say it's the right thing to do?
