The CH"CH famously did not want himself to be photographed. You have to realize that it was a different world back then, not like today where it's a given that every time you pick your nose there will be a video of it on YouTube tomorrow...

Many Gedolim didn't, there were opinions that it would be included in לא תעשה לך פסל כל תמונה

Yup. I was at a mitzva tanz in Vizhnitz (popped in after maariv in the shteibels) and took out my phone to take pictures. I almost got tackled by chassidim who saw me. One of them explained that the Rebbe does not allow photography. He also said that the Rebbe promises any chassidim who agree to have a wedding without photography to be zoche to a private mitzva tanz with the Rebbe.
