Topic Wiki

If your video is not embedding, see if your link starts with "http:" - if it does, change it to "https:" and it will work.

If a video isn't embedded you should assume it may be inappropriate for some people.

How do I embed a Youtube video?
Simply post the YouTube URL.
Alternately (actually, this may no longer work):
Click the "youtube" button on the second row on the furthermost left side.
You will now have the words: in your editor.
Now, copy and paste the youtube video id (youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0&x=y) in between the middle brackets in order for it to look like this:

and leave out this part of the link: "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v="

Or you can paste the YouTube link, highlight it, and then click on the "YouTube" button. This will encase the link in the youtube tags,
Now just click "post" and you're done!

How can I search if a video has been posted here before?
This is not foolproof, but it's a good start.
Search for the youtube ID (youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0)

I guess my real question is do American  right wing orthodox whatever it's called black hat , yeshivish, etc... still identify with the average israeli charedi. I used to  view myself as the same sect but I find it harder and harder to keep that perspective
I don't think you realize how concentrated and segregated the various meah sharim sects are.
They have nothing at all in common with the average yeshivish or chasidish israeli communities.

The media was successful in defining "chareidim" by the fringe noismakers.

The better question would be whether or not the typical chareidi in Bnei Brak/Ponevez/Belz/Degel/Aguda/whatever still identifies with this stuff and the answer is no, but they do identify with some other aspects so it gets complicated. THen the question becomes how much the typical yeshivish American identifies with which group.

Not sure what you are saying.
The Israeli charedi communities have absolutely nothing to do with the meah sharim crowd, hashkafa or anything else. They are looked at as fringe loonies and that's it.

If anything, the American yeshivish crowd seems somewhat enamored by them for some reason.. Americans learn in brisk (hashkafa also rejected by mainstream chareidim in Israel), and for some reason meah sharim is a major American yeshivish tourist attraction.
Yeshiva guys from beney berak have no interest in even visiting the place..

I mostly agree with you. That it became a tourist attraction is mainly its "old yishuv" feel which brings secular tourists there as well. The lines of who is a "fringe loony" and who is mainstream are quite blurred.

without even watching the video I can guess what it is and can assure that is not the average Israeli Chareidi.
I have very Israeli Chareidi cousins and they want just as little to do with Meah Shearim crowd as you do.
The American Mir guys on the other hand...

I still think that US yeshivish right wing is not Israeli Chareidi but totally dif reasons and nothing against Israeli Chareidim
